Wemi Designs @ the Brick House

Wemi Designs showcased a few items at the Brick House last week at a Portmanteau Event alongside Asor-Atelier. Unsuprisingly, the Wemi Bags were a hit! (written with humility, I'm just being honest, hehe). I have some exclusives from behind the scences for my loyal viewers.

Summer Collection 2010!!!

Summer 2010 is defiantly one of diversity, and that’s exactly what you can expect from Wemi this season. This season explore Neutral tones, toys with heavy floral patterns and lands on bold colors. The Trend train began its journey through a colorful spring with floral prints and lace. It has continued the vivaciousness throughout the summer. Can’t wait to see where it takes us in Autumn!

This month, expect a burst of colors from Wemi, my twist on the season will continue to include African hints and traces, as well as full explosions!

Busy but Back

Hello all,

Been busy but I'm back now. I tell you, its not easy having a job while trying to start a mini business. Sorry to say, but my bags have had to take a backseat to Marketing which is unfortunate but inevitable. Been working for 2 months so its going to take some time to fully adjust. But without furthe'a'do, I present the bag I created while I was in hybernation...

Celebrating Africa

Im so proud to be from such a rich Continent that I have decided not only to make bags out of Ankara alone, but to incoporate the different fabrics I have seen in other countries. I love the woven texture and look of the Kente cloth from Ghana and the unique prints that emerge from hand dyed Amafu prints from South Africa and wonderfully diverse Kudinda fabrics from Zimbabwe.

Love Donations

This fabulous fabric was recently received as a donation of 6 yards from my friend Emma (Thanks Emma).
I will be making a dress and a couple of bags from this fabric. Emma will also be receiving a clutch bag as a thank you to her wonderful generosity.

New Bag Shape

Currently working on a new bag and frame shape for the first time. Just praying for knowledge and wisdom to get it right the first time! Its going well so far. But while I design and sew away, feast your eyes on this.


Lace 2010

My sources (tv, internet and my eyes) tell me that lace is in this season. The 20s vintage style has been revamped and given a modern twists. Once again proving that fashion is on a never ending cycle and will inevitably repeat itself. I wonder what twist will be put on it in the next 80 years??


So of course I couldnt let the opportunity pass without releasing my own edit of the trend. Lace is in this season and everyone has jumped upon the frilly band wagon, As have I.

New Bag Shape

Saw this bag shape on a blog and I just had to figure it out and re-create it. Took a while but I've utilized my God given ability and worked out all the kinks. I love it.
